Amelia Fulgentes, raised in Simi Valley, CA, discovered her passion for sports at the age of 7 through judo. Her dedication to the sport led her to become a member of the USA Judo National Team. She trained under the guidance of Eddie Liddie at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. She continued her training at the Kiitsusai National Training Center in Coconut Creek, FL, where coaches German Velazco and Jhonny Prado played roles in enhancing her skills.
She was a 3x Senior National Champion, 2x Junior World Team Member and a 4x Senior World Team Member. Her qualifications extended to the Pan American Games. After contributing as a training partner for Angelica Delgado at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Amelia decided to retire and relocate closer to her family.
Beyond judo, Amelia explored other sports such as swimming and water polo. She started wrestling at the age of 11. During her Senior Year at Royal High School, she not only qualified for the girls' state championship but also secured 2nd place. Her success continued to the Girls’ Folkstyle Nationals, where she achieved a 3rd place finish.
While Amelia demonstrated athletic versatility, her heart remained in judo. Throughout her career, she faced challenges, including three knee surgeries, two of which involved ACL reconstructions. These trials fueled her interest in the recovery and strength & conditioning process. Eager to understand the intricacies, she pursued certifications and studies, ultimately developing a desire for the field.
Amelia established SoCal Strength & Movement, a testament to her commitment to assisting others in achieving their fitness and athletic goals. This venture wouldn't have been possible without the mentorship of Chris Campbell, from Next Level Strength & Movement in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Now residing back in Simi Valley, Amelia aims to give back to her community, showcasing not only her perseverance in sports but also to encourage others through fitness and recovery. Her story stands as an example of dedication, and a promise to make a positive impact, both on and off the mat.
